Am I Rebranding or Just Growing Up?

When it's time for a Pinterest moodboard and a new wardrobe, you know it's serious...
I thought the pivot out of societal expectations would change every part of me, and in some regards it did, but as I looked in my closet and at my new repertoire for the upcoming audition season, I knew it was time for a rebrand.
Rebranding may be the Gen-Z way of putting things, or maybe it’s the creative director in me, but whenever I experience formative changes, I need my environment to match the latest version of Regan. It’s kind of like a haircut, you know you need one when you’re constantly putting your hair up, but for me, it also happens when I step in my closet full of clothes and seemingly have nothing left to wear that feels like me. All of a sudden I’m in a museum dedicated to who I used to be and nothing fits anymore.
So what happens when you feel this way? Well, the first step is to go on Pinterest and make a moodboard to see what things you’re drawn to. I never make fashion choices without subconsciously saving a similar item more than once and have three occasions/ways I could wear the piece unless it is a statement piece, that’s a different story, we can discuss that at a later date.
Back to the Pinterest board, this is not only a guide of what to wear, but it helps you determine how to style your hair, if your makeup should change and if you need to shake up your weekly floral arrangement, things like that. I’ve always been drawn to Pinterest, it's my version of when people say, “back to the drawing board,” I go to my Pinterest board. If you don’t believe me, you can check for yourselves ;)
This love of Pinterest and moldboards turned me into an opera singer who also happens to have a knack for creative direction and consulting amongst other things. I unintentionally became not a Jack of all trades, but a Jill of all trades, so when it came time for me to rebrand my singer brand, Regan Poarch Mezzo-Soprano, I went to Pinterest and once I have my vision realized through a robust board, I will choose the appropriate typography color palette, design a new logo and logo mark and of course overhaul my website and materials just in time for audition season to kick off. Did I mention that starts at the end of this week?!
If you know me, this will make all the sense in the world and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Inspiration has struck and I want to make sure my brand this audition season is reflective of the roles I can be ready to step into at a moment’s notice. After all, my job is not only to sing and act well, it is to also present myself with the perfectly tied gold foil bow that leads the panel to think no other response than, “we have to hire her, she’s just what we’re looking for!”
Have you ever felt like you outgrew your brand? Your closet? Your voice? Let me know. My Pinterest board and I are all ears.
